More and more customers are coming to me reporting concerns about imitation ERGObaby products. In the last few months the problem of counterfeit baby carriers on eBay and in other shops being sold as ERGObaby products at heavily discounted prices has increased - please be careful to ensure you buy genuine products from authorised retailers.
Here is the list of authorised ERGObaby retailers in the UK:
http://www.ergobaby.eu/en/ergo_baby_stores.html?country=United+Kingdom
You'll see me listed there, under 'Yorkshire' along with several other retailers all of whom are authorised by ERGObaby to sell their products, and who can provide the ERGObaby money back guarantee, as well as terrific before and after sales service.
How to Spot a Fake?
As ERGObaby have changed theor designs over the years, it can be difficult to tell a genuine product from a counterfeit, but here are a few telltale signs of a fake product:
- Waist band and shoulder strap padding is thinner
- Warning label is smaller and located on the body of the carrier,
instead of being on the waist band
- Buckles are different, especially the chest/shoulder strap buckles
- Zip pulls do not all have the ERGO logo
- Often there is a misspelling at the security label, "Never nubuckle", instead of, "Never unbuckle"
- Fake carriers usually are packed with a plastic bag, ERGObaby carriers are not
- Genuine ERGObaby Carriers have a serial number in the front pocket, either the one meant for storing the hood or the zipped pocked on the side
Trust your instinct too, if the price is 'too good to be true' then it is probably not a genuine product.
