I established Baby Bean in 2004 with the aim of helping parents find the best products for their baby, which are not always readily available in high street shops. When my first daughter Amelia was born in December 2003, I knew that I wanted to do things a little differently - I decided to use cloth nappies, and I had read about the benefits of carrying your baby - but I found it difficult to find the products I wanted. I spent long frustrating hours trawling the internet, and from there my business idea was born.Baby Bean aims to remove that hassle for you, and bring together the best products, at reasonable prices, all in one place - and as I discover new products which impress me they are being added to our range.
My second pregnancy gave me the perfect excuse to test lots of new products, and we will soon be adding a new Pregnancy & Birth section. As soon as she was born in June 2006, Jocelyn was appointed chief nappy and sling tester, and Amelia is currently enjoying helping me to build a range of products for toddlers and older children. Baby Bean is truly a family business and I am really lucky to be able to work at something I enjoy so much without missing out on time with my girls.
I have tried and tested all the products that I sell, and will only stock items which I would recommend to our friends or family. I believe in offering simple, honest advice to help my customers make the best choices; even if that means they don't buy from me! I hope that by providing great service, and treating my customers well, my business will continue to flourish.
I hope you'll find Baby Bean helpful, if you'd like to be kept up to date of any new products or additions to the site, please sign up for our newsletter. I'm always happy to receive questions, comments, or constructive criticism, so feel free to contact me.

Here is an outline of Baby Bean's business principles:
What We Do:
- Promote baby wearing and natural baby products through information and demonstration sessions to local hospitals, antenatal classes, toddler groups etc. Baby Bean is closely involved with the Bradford Environmental Action Trust's Real Nappy Project.
- Reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever possible. We use recycled paper and packaging wherever possible.
- Support and promote small business, many of our products are made by work at home mums. Our products are sourced from the UK or Europe wherever possible.
- Buy fairly traded products wherever possible.
- Believe that our customers are our most important asset, and treat them accordingly.
- Give commonsense advice and information to our customers.
What We Don't:
- Share or sell customer information of any kind.
- Try to persuade customers to buy products which aren't right for them.
- Sell products which we don't believe in, or which we know to be poor quality - no matter how much profit they make.
- Preach to our customers; if you want to take a natural approach, carry your baby, or breastfeed, that's fantastic and I hope Baby Bean will help. But I'm not here to tell you what to do, or criticise you; that's the job of your mother-in-law!
